New Edinburgh Cricket Club Ottawa News story

President's Message 2022

01 May 2022

Dear Members,

On behalf of Myself and the rest of your executive we welcome all established and new members to the 2022 season for the New Edinburgh Cricket Club.

After a cancelled season in 2020 and a shortened 2021 season due to the pandemic, we are looking forward to our first full season since 2019.  I would like to thank the outgoing executive for their hard work in keeping the club together during these difficult times.

The 2022 season offers great opportunities for Burghs, as we once again enter teams in the Challenge (50 overs), Citizen (40 overs) and T20 competitions.  After competing hard in 2021 reaching both Challenge and Citizen finals and T20 playoffs, we hope to continue to challenge for trophies again this year.

We are a members club run entirely through volunteer support. We encourage you to put your hand up and help throughout the season and appreciate our volunteers’ contributions. This will ensure that Burghs remains one of the best clubs to play cricket for in Ottawa.

After a successful winter training program, the current committee has been working hard preparing for spring and a return to the cricket pitch. Teamwork both on and off the field whether it’s in the nets, in a game or while socializing will create a great environment for all our members and their families to enjoy the game of cricket.

Best of luck to all our team captains and players for the 2022 season.
Varun Harish
