Chesham Cricket Club News story

A note from the chairman

22 Apr 2020

It was a Saturday so after a glorious week, rain stopped play… well it would have done. Saturday was meant to be the start of the 2020 cricket season and, given the weather, we wouldn’t have got much play. Of course, we’ve got a much longer wait than usual until we can try again, but, in the meantime, there are still plenty of ways to stay involved in the Chesham Cricket Club community.

Firstly, we want to see how you’re managing to incorporate cricket into your routines- whether that’s by playing back garden cricket, wearing full cricket kit for your daily exercise or simply re-watching England’s World Cup win last year! Share your pictures with us via email or on social media and we’ll share as many as we can.

The Chairman has specifically asked for evidence of all members doing batting practice with a stump, or suitable replacement. (see the attached photos of the Chairman practising what he preaches) Anyone who was once one of his juniors will remember this particular drill fondly (or less so…)

On a slightly more formal scale, we’re looking for members to organise virtual quizzes or challenges for their teams, perhaps during their usual training slots.

If this is something you think you could help organise, whether for your own/your child’s team or on a wider scale, please email cheshamcricketclub@gmail.com.

Finally, we want to assure you the club remains in good shape and is ready for cricket as soon as we are able to play, as evidenced by the care being taken:
