EAGCC GreenPiece - OLD VIDEO & NEW ARRIVAL!

23 Apr 2020

New Arrival.   Many congrats to Alastair and Alice Hammond who recently celebrated the arrival of baby Noah (pictured).  Let’s hope he’s as good a player as his dad, or even better, as good as his Grandad Keith.

Stumping Update.  Many thanks for all the entries into the ‘How old was the tree’ question.  Sam Collins wins with the correct figure of 120 years and diplomatically pointed out that this was three times as old as club secretary, Neil Brinded.  Nathan Crame asked if we were now Seven Ash Green (The Saggies) but this was an Oak tree.

Pavilion Diamond Jubilee .  In case you’ve missed it, have a look at the video on YouTube that shows Sir Len Hutton opening our pavilion in 1960.  Nobody had any idea that it existed until a postman told fellow-postie and Life Member David Merriday that he’d seen it on an archive DVD  - during a frequent and lengthy tea break, of course.  It’s worth a look, is only to prove that Kevin Smith's clothes were once in fashion and that the front door really did once open properly.

Subs & Sponsorships.  Many thanks to members who have paid the reduced annual subscriptions.  Just to be clear, our club still has committed monthly costs and with no match fees or bar revenue then we still need ALL members to pay their subs for this year if you can afford them.   See the Membership Page to what these are.

Two Counties League.  The latest update that discusses options should cricket start in July, August or September is available on the Two Counties web site.  Any meaningful competition can only happen if cricket starts again in July and promotion options for ‘ups and downs’.

Youth Activities.  Head Coach Sam has sent out some activities and games to hopefully keep youth members fit and focused.

Social Media.  It appears that news posts are not automatically being added to the club Facebook page like they used to.  We’ll try and remember to post manually until this is fixed.

Stay safe.   El Presidenté
