Penn Street Cricket Club News story

An Important Message From The President

11 Oct 2021

The last ball of our season has been bowled, the swallows are heading south and the leaves will soon be changing colour. My last day as Penn Street Cricket Club President will be 20th October.

It has been a real privilege to serve our Club in this role for 20 years after a fun decade of organising our charity cricket matches. I have enjoyed this entire period immensely.

I am most proud of our various Management Committees and how they have led us over the years. Many of our Members will never see how extraordinarily hard they, and all other Officers of our Club , work on our behalf.
The resilience and unity, which our current Committee under the leadership of Jane has demonstrated throughout the pandemic, has kept our Club going.

Next week at our AGM there will be a changing of the guard in our Management Committee. I extend to my elected successor, and indeed to every one of you, my very best wishes at the dawn of this exciting new chapter for our Club.

I would also like to thank Jean for her wonderful support on Club matters on numerous occasions during the last 30 years.

For my own part, I plan to enjoy this retirement by watching our cricketers in action from a bench under the trees of Penn Wood with The Squirrel in the background. See you there again next season.

Thank you for some great times.

WOW !
