THE BIG LGCC DECEMBER EVENTS LIST: What's On During Yuletide At The Green

14 Dec 2019

HERE'S a one-stop click for all of LGCC's key events during December.

Summarised initially, with full details further down the page, it's your guide to entertainment and social events at The Green during the festive season.

The below message details events taking place through December that are either special versions of regular events or Yuletide-only events.

Would those who organise and participate in regular weekly and monthly activities please excuse their good work not being detailed in this email. Regulars - such as Monday & Wednesday darts, Tuesday (first one in the month) Banjo Bash and Thursday Yoga continue as usual, with dates and other relevant details marked within the 'Events' section of the LGCC website. They'll also be highlighted individually or as part of regular 'What's On' emails.

The club is keen to offer its usual warm welcome to all members, their families and friends throughout the festive season and beyond. Hopefully there's something for everyone below...

Updated Timings - Friday December 20 & Saturday December 21
LGCC MINI-BEER FESTIVAL: Friday from 8pm and Saturday from 12noon

Beers from around Britain can be sampled on both Friday December 20 evening and Saturday December 21 from noon onwards as Bar Chairman Graham Evans brings tastes from around the country to LGCC's clubhouse.

It'll be £1.50 for half-pints, or 10 tokens for £12 to use against the tasting (and re-tasting) of the following nationally-renowned ales:

+ Scotland: Windswept - Hurricane
+ North-East: Cullercoats - Shuggy Boat Blond
+ South-West: Exe Valley - Friar's Thirst
+ Midlands: Everards - Tiger
+ Wales: Brain's - Rev. James Original
+ South-East: Old Dairy: Coopers Top
+ Local: Tring - Christmas Cracker

So get away from the Christmas shopping and talk about something else over a pint at The Green.

Saturday December 21 - from 7.30pm:
CHRISTMAS PARTY NIGHT

We'll have a disco playing favourite party tunes throughout the night, with requests very much to the fore and yet, for those who'd rather drink than dance, there will be a mini-beer festival - bringing to LGCC many local favourites for everyone to try on the evening.

And in fact, the beer will be flowing all afternoon with early opening at lunchtime for the Beer Fest.

This non-ticketed evening event is open to all LGCC members, their family and friends to party away on the last weekend before Christmas Day itself.

Sunday December 22 - from 2.30pm onwards:
FATHER CHRISTMAS VISITS LGCC
Among his many other seasonal stop-off points, Santa Claus knows that no round of Christmas deliveries of gifts would be complete without an LGCC stop-off.

By his own estimations, he suggests children of LGCC members' families - accompanied by their parents / guardians, of course - should make their way to the clubhouse during the early afternoon of Sunday December 22.

There will be a gift for every child that comes along to see Father Christmas, on an afternoon when all members of the family are very welcome to join in with the season of goodwill.

Tuesday December 24 - from 8.00pm:
CHRISTMAS EVE AT THE GREEN (with the 'Darker Side of Christmas' (from late))
Experience a special Yuletide tribute when long-standing LGCC member Kim Darker takes centre-stage with his own unique brand of entertainment during what's always a very busy Christmas Eve at The Green.

Join us any time during the evening and, at some point getting towards midnight, you'll be able to enjoy 'The Darker Side Of Christmas'!

Tuesday December 31 - from 8.00pm:

LGCC will be seeing the New Year in in fine style with live entertainment from the fabulously-talented Riccardo.

Riccardo has entertained LGCC members, family & friends before at The Green and his mix of live vocals across the first two hours of the evening, followed by his DJ skills later into the night, will ensure everyone gets to see 2020 in the best possible fashion.

As is always the case for New Year's, the clubhouse will be packed to capacity and so entry on the evening will be courtesy of advance ticket purchases only.

LGCC members Mike Darke and Sandra Molloy are the contacts for tickets, which are priced at just £10 per person. Mike & Sandra will be in the clubhouse this Sunday, November 17, while Mike can also be contacted on 07746 215850 to arrange sales.

Please note that, due to the demand for tickets, block bookings or informal reservations may not be made and tickets for the event will only be guaranteed upon immediate payment.
