Match Report
Match Report - 28 Sep 2019, Dunfermline City Hockey Club Dunfermline City First Team beat Stirling Wanderers 2
Al Santi returned to Stirling to haunt his former teammates.
From the start this was an evenly matched game - with Stirling putting out a side with a mix of youth and experience while City had 4 ex Stirling players in their line up. We welcomed back Tyler Annan - a product of the City youth system from 8 years ago - where he teamed up with fellow youngster Creag Campbell.
Stirling drew first blood in this game going 1 up through a short corner routine.
City's best chance fell to Miller - who's well hit shot was diverted away by the keeper.
At the break it was 1.0 Stirling.
In the second half City came more into the game.
City equalised when Gareth Edwards cross was smashed home from the penalty spot by Santi.
Santi then just failed to convert a similar chance when roving fullback Tyler Annan played in a pin point cross.
A Stirling attack was then broken up by Rintoul - who played the ball to Miller wide left - who spotted Santi running through the middle unmarked - Miller played an inch perfect pass - but the hard work was still to be done - Santi converted in style rounding the keeper and slotting home.
City held on for a deserved win.
Stirling had multiple short corners but apart from that had no clear cut chances as Mitchell and Whitsed kept them out at the back.
Santi received his second Yellow in two weeks - however it may be seen as harsh as he slipped as he went in to tackle.
The umpires got a bit confused when both lost track of time - so in the end the second half lasted 45 minutes (5 of which were legitimate due to stoppages)
