Mens Indoor Team- County Champions!

14 Jan 2019

Some great news for Monday!

On Friday night we competed in the Middlesex County 6-a-side Indoor Finals. After being runners up in 2018 the boys were very keen to go one better in 2019. We took on Stoke Newington CC in the semi finals. SNCC comprised mainly of their 2018 Under 15s National Championship team and contained some very talented cricketers. SNCC batted first and scored a very competitive 101 off their 10 overs. Shabeel Dhami and Anek Mhajan opened the batting in our reply and made it through to 50-0 in good time and with some cameos from captain Sameer Butt and Aniket Palav we were well on track to progress to the finals, a late fightback from SNCC provided some hope however we progressed through to the final in the last over.

Last years champions Winchmore Hill CC took on Uxbridge CC in the other semi and the WHCC came through unscathed to take us on at the final at 8.30pm.

In the final WHCC batted first and after Aniket Palav took two wickets in the first two balls of the game, WHCC were left realing at 20-4. They managed to get through to 34 which was never going to be enough. Again Shabeel and Anek showed their class with a measured response and we managed the 35 for victory without losing a wicket!

We now progress to the Regional Qualifier against the Home Counties champion. When I hear more about the date, time and venue (likely to be in Reading) I will let everyone know. If we are luckily enough to get through that match it will be onto the South of England championships, a win their- the ECB Nationals at Lords!
