Match report Mildenhall Cricket Clubs 1s X1 began their 2014 campaign with a home fixture against Hadleigh .The conditions were dry and bright, and the visitor’s batted first. Hadleigh began positively scoring their first 20 runs in boundaries. They had reached 34 at a rate of 4 an over when James Holmes struck the first blow for the home side; he bowled M. Dias for 23. L Ibbs joined J. Davey and the pair took the Hadleigh score passed 50.With the wicket having a good dry surface captain Karl Holmes quickly turned to spin. Steve Lankester and Kobus Scholtz bowled in tandem as Hadleigh progressed to 73 for 1 in the 19th over. It was then that Scholtz with good flight trapped Davey (14) lbw. Scholtz then had Ibbs (36) well caught by James Holmes and then Lankester got in on the act when T.Pidington (0) was caught behind by Karl Holmes. Scholtz took control, dominating the partnership as the pair saw Mildenhall home. He made an unbeaten 68* including 13 boundaries while Clark gave solid support with 15 *. Mildenhall had gained 20 points for a seven wicket win obtained in just over half of their allotted overs.
