Match report A DISASTROUS mid-innings over - costing 23 - from Saturday 1st XI skipper Dayle Littlejohn effectively eased any concerns Abbots Langley might have had about reaching the 124-run victory target set by Leverstock Green.

Chris Chellew was the host's star, carrying his bat for 59 in guiding the hosts home with six balls to spare after earlier collecting three Levy wickets with his leg-spin.

Miles Barnard (23), Littlejohn (22), Green captain Lewis Koch (21) and Nahim Iqbal (19) all made solid if unspectacular contributions to a decent but not imposing total of 123-4 from the Watford Observer Knockout format of 14 eight-ball overs.

Levy looked a front-line bowler light in reply, although defeat was harsh on seamer Adam Thomas who bowled with accuracy and control to record 2-20 from his 32 deliveries.

Koch may be left to regret not turning to Imran Iqbal sooner after his Saturday captain's over to forget however, details aside, Abbots ran out worthy winners and will now face Kings Langley or Chipperfield Clarendon in the Shield quarter-finals.

LGCC's midweek 2nd XI play their WO Knockout Shield Round Two tie at home to Frogmore this coming Wednesday, May 27, at The Green.

That game is part of a Midweek 2s double-header, since they then follow up a day later (Thu May 28) with a trip to Watford Town for a Heath Park Cup Round One tie - the fixture having been twice postponed already with the play-by date having passed.
