Leverstock Green Cricket Club 1st XI v Watford Town on Sat 29 Aug 2015 at 1.00pm
Leverstock Green Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report Highlights: Adam Thomas 3-24; Lewis Koch 46, Miles Barnard 41.

Leverstock Green 1st XI ticked off their first goal, as an eight-wicket win over Watford Town coupled with Radlett's defeat to Preston saw the Bedmond Road side clinch promotion to Division 1 of the Saracens Herts League.

Watford won the toss and surprisingly chose to bat on what looked like a pitch tailor-made for seam and swing bowling, with a hue of green to it.

They were quickly in trouble, Chaudry driving aerially to Kris Jadeja at mid-on from the bowling of the excellent Adam Thomas for 0. The second wicket fell in the fifth over with Yogesh Pujari nicking Majid Khan to third slip where Miles Barnard took a good, high catch.

Ravi Panchal battled gamely for Watford, showing a good straight bat, but he found scant support; Kantumucchu was caught behind by Kyle Claxton off Thomas. Hanif was comprehensively bowled by Khan, and Kanyur got a feint nick through to Claxton.

52-5 was soon 62-7 as Dayle Littlejohn bowled Chesetty for one, before Panchal's gritty innings was ended by Imran Iqbal, as he was bowled for 30.

Mohammed Syed showed some resistance in an aggressive innings, but his entertaining knock of 28 came to an end as he was run out, thanks to an excellent throw from Majid Khan from mid-off.

Ajit Kumar was quick to clean up the tail, first trapping Hussain LBW, before he bowled Abbas, to bowl Watford out for 98 in 32.5 overs.

Leverstock Green set about their chase with gusto, as drizzle began to threaten the prospects of play. As the rain cleared, so the boundaries flowed from the bats of Miles Barnard and Lewis Koch, the pair continuing their fine form this season.

Koch struck nine 4s in his innings of 46 from 38 balls before he was caught off the bowling of Abbas. Before the score was added to Barnard followed, bowled by Kantumucchu for 41 from 43 balls. Kyle Claxton and Kris Jadeja ensured there would be no further alarms, as Green reached their target in just 15.3 overs.

The win means that LGCC need seven points from their final league game, away at Old Owens next Saturday, in order to clinch the Division 2A title.

With the Readers County Trophy final the following day, it promises to be an exciting weekend!
